making tetrarc no3, GBP











The piece had to be turned to remove the base mould.

To keep the curve supported through the drying process, a mould in ply wood is made. This mould is matching the curve of the clay piece. It has gaps such that the clay may breathe.
This ply wood mould was placed on the clay piece. Finally, after the turn the piece sits on this for a few weeks.

For the 180 degree turn a metal structure is made around, holding the piece in between the base plaster mould and ply wood mould.
After the turn, the metal angles are gas cut and removed.
Carefully the plaster mould is lifted off.

The sculpture is in this angle for being able to slide, as it shrinks.....
