My time at Gaya CAC, Ubud, Bali

This is a series of work, which is inspired by Giant's Causeway. This is a natural formation found in Ireland, consists of nearly 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, as a result of ancient volcanic eruptions.
I have seen these only in pictures, I wish to be there and stand on one of those hexagonal columns in real.. Some day. : )

How did I come upon this?
I have formed clay in geometric and platonic shapes... The golden mean inspires me. Lately hexagons.
Hexagons - an ergonomic stable shape - bee hives are shaped like.
I am exploring variations and aspects of hexagons in nature, scientific research, life and clay.

Here are some pictures of the making of works inspired by Giants Causeway -

These were made with extruded tubes, that were scored, slipped and attached on to a slab 9"x10" size.

Thank you for visiting my blog. : )
