Palani Swamy's village in Pudukottai district

A Village Potter
Palani Swamy.
Pudukottai district, Tamil Nadu.
His work at his home.

He would throw off the hump, several pots on the traditional wheel.
After half a day of drying his wife would paddle them one by one. A pot is paddled, left to stiffen a little more and then paddled again to get the shape.

The stacked up cooking stove, devil head and horse and cow forms are coil-build.

Visit with my Japanese friends.
December 2010.
